Six-part speculative drama. Worldbuilding and integration across 200+ shots.
The Redivider team was excited to provide VFX Supervision for this 6-episode TV show, produced by Submarine. The workload consisted of creating a beautiful visualization of the research done by armchair journalists, simulating a plane crash, adding military vehicles, and delivering over 1000 shots that required invisible VFX.
Tim Smit and Matthijs Joor worked right alongside the directors to assist them with this difficult puzzle, while Dieuwer Feldbrugge focused on the FX and motion graphics challenges.
For the visualization of the journalists' research, the challenge was to create something accurate to the story and visually stunning. This required a lot of research and a blend of motion graphics and VFX. We created previs, supervised the shoot, and led a team of motion graphics and VFX artists.
Many other shots also required a lot of work. Think screen-replacements, set extensions, gunfire, digital makeup, CG airplanes, CG military vehicles, and even chopped off fingers.
To make sure we would be able to do all this, we worked with Submarine to assemble a team and develop a pipeline. This was perhaps the most rewarding part. We were able to bring in many artists we have worked with for years, combine them with new ones, and in the end, we found ourselves surrounded by a great team of over 20 people!
