VFX Supervision on Richard Linklater's animated feature.
In 2019, Matthijs Joor (Redivider) was asked to supervise the VFX and compositing on this hybrid animated feature film directed by Richard Linklater.
It started with preparing for a 4-week shoot in Texas. To make it as smooth as possible, Matthijs arranged an NCAM system to be available on set. This allowed the crew to see the virtual locations live in the green screen studio, which was vital to the shooting process.
Matthijs was there for the whole shooting period, working directly with the director, the animation supervisor, and producer Tommy Palotta to make sure the animation team would be able to realize all the creative plans in post.
After the shoot, Matthijs worked with Vincent Bisschop to develop the art style. When the edit was locked, they managed a 100+ artist crew for over a year until all the 1849 shots were completed.
